Can a person walk at constant speed?

How can you discover the speed of a motion? What is the difference between speed and velocity?

One of the ever-popular favourites in the playground is the child swing. Kids love to ride the swings at the playground. Given the following situation: Ann (20kg) and Tom (30kg argue in front of two child swings (Length 2.4m and 2.5m), who is able to swing faster. Ann worries about her less weight and wants to take the longer swing. Tom agrees assuming that his much greater weight will easily outplay the difference of 10cm according to the length of the two swings.

Felix Baumgartner is an Austrian skydiver and a BASE jumper. He is renowned for the particularly dangerous nature of the stunts he has performed during his career.  With a team of scientists and sponsor Red Bull he plans a free-fall from 120000 feet, the highest sky-dive on record attempting to break the sound barrier. On 25 July 2012, Baumgartner completed the second of two planned test jumps from 96640 feet. His free fall was estimated to have lasted three minutes and 48 seconds before his parachutes were deployed. His top speed was 536 mph.

Failure to have proper control of a vehicle in road traffic results in more or less penalty the driver has to pay.

But how do policemen find out, if somebody drives too fast?
